SWIS Facilitator Certification Training -- Online

This 15-hour in-person and online hybrid training prepares and certifies participants to provide services and supports as a SWIS Facilitator to local schools interested in implementation of the School-Wide Information System (SWIS).

Description

SWIS is a web-based decision system that monitors social climate and child behavior by tracking behavior incidents. Not only does SWIS support decision-making through easy access to comprehensive graphs but also provides a structure to improve the consistency and accuracy of staff reporting of behavioral incidents.

Content of the training includes:

  • Overview of PBIS Applications and the SWIS Suite
  • Overview of the SWIS application
  • SWIS Account Set-Up and Data Entry tasks
  • SWIS Reporting Features, including the SWIS Equity Reports
  • Data-Based Decision Making
  • SWIS Facilitator Role
  • SWIS Readiness & Licensing
  • Training and Supporting SWIS Users

 

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this certification training, participants will be able to:

  • Lead a school through SWIS Readiness and Licensing
  • Train schools on accessing, viewing, and printing reports
  • Train users on entering SWIS data & using the data for decision making
  • Train users on using school settings to manage SWIS
  • Have a clear understanding of the role and responsibilities of a SWIS facilitator
  • Effectively navigate the SWIS application
  • Support schools in meeting and maintaining SWIS Readiness requirements within 6 months of certification
  • Provide coaching for schools related using the application for data-based decision making

Prerequisites

As part of this certification, participants will be required to complete pre-training course work.  Pre-training course work will be sent at least 2 weeks prior to the first learning session and will take about 2 hours to complete.

As this is a hybrid training, technological skills (e.g., the ability to navigate and use multiple computer applications and/or resources at the same time) are necessary to successfully access the training content and participate in this training.

Note: Full attendance and participation at all instructor-led synchronous learning sessions is required for certification. Please plan your schedule accordingly.

Target Audience

Anyone wanting to become certified to support school teams with their use of the SWIS application. The role is designed for people who will be training, supporting, and providing technical assistance to multiple schools within a district, region, and/or state.
